Brengun 1:48 GBU-38 JDAM is a set of four resin bombs of 500 pounds with a guidance kit. It serves as external ordnance for a finished model of an aircraft; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package holds four resin castings of the GBU-38 bomb in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an armament accessory with which the racks of a finished model are loaded. Four pieces correspond to the ordinary need of one model, on which the bomb is hung on several racks at once.
The designation JDAM is used for the guidance kit that turns an ordinary unguided bomb into guided ordnance. The kit consists of a tail unit with inertial and satellite navigation and of aerodynamic strakes on the body of the bomb; the body itself stays standard. The GBU-38 is based on the bomb of 500 pounds, so it is the smallest of the family and is carried several pieces at a time. In shape it is an elongated body with a pronounced angular tail module, which differs at a glance from the conventional tail of an unguided bomb.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface by sanding wet with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). When loading them, see to it that all the pieces hang on the same axis and at the same height; asymmetrical stores show more on a finished model than a missing detail does. Paint over a primer, in thin coats; add any markings from sources of your own.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
