Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:48 scale. It is modern, entirely new Tamiya tooling from 2016. The variable-geometry wings can be assembled either spread or folded back in the swept position, and the horizontal tail surfaces are mounted on polyethylene pins and stay movable. Advanced molding technology gives a faithful rendering of the canopy, the sides of the air intakes and the fuselage. Two crew figures and three types of missile are included, the AIM-9 Sidewinder, the AIM-7 Sparrow and the AIM-54 Phoenix. The decals allow one of three color schemes to be built.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat supersonic carrier fighter with variable-geometry wings, operated from the decks of US Navy aircraft carriers. The F-14A version was the first production variant and became famous as an interceptor able to carry the long-range Phoenix missiles. It also served with the Iranian Air Force.
Give attention to the cockpit, where the details of the instrument panel and the ejection seats come out well. Before closing the fuselage we recommend painting the inner surfaces of the air intakes. The movable wings allow the model to be displayed in the swept configuration too. Spray the surface with an airbrush, pick out the panel lines with a wash and apply the decals over a gloss coat, using a decal softener if needed for perfect adhesion.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
