Eduard 1:48 Grumman F4F-4 LööK is an add-on set for the cockpit of a model of the Wildcat carrier fighter. It is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory for a model already bought.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard intended for building a model of the Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The set is aimed at the cockpit, that is, the place everyone notices first when looking at a finished model. The LööK line is built on a color-printed instrument panel, which Eduard completes as standard with pre-painted steel seat belts. It is not a model of the aircraft - it is an accessory that replaces the matching parts of a plastic kit.
Eduard carries accessories in several lines that are easy to confuse. Zoom sets are a smaller, pre-painted selection from a full photo-etched set and are aimed above all at the cockpit. A full photo-etched set is more extensive and also holds exterior details. Masks are self-adhesive templates for the glazing and the wheels. Bundle sets group several sets into one package, and decal sets hold only markings. LööK stands outside photo-etched metal: its core is a three-dimensionally printed instrument panel with the instruments printed on it, completed with belts. LööKplus is then the extended variant, which adds further printed parts to that.
The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat was the main carrier fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps in the first two years of the war in the Pacific. Against the older version it introduced folding wings, which fundamentally simplified stowage on the decks of carriers, and six heavy machine guns in the wing. It was powered by an air-cooled Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engine with a two-speed supercharger.
Wash the printed parts in lukewarm water with dish soap before gluing and let them dry - remains of process substances worsen the adhesion of both glue and paint. Separate the part from the carrier structure with a sharp scalpel or a saw, not by twisting. It is glued with super glue, ideally a gel one, which gives time to set it in place. The pre-painted belts need no repainting; just shape them carefully with tweezers over an edge, so that they look loosely thrown over. Before gluing the panel in, try dry whether the fuselage halves still close.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
