An injection-molded plastic kit of the vertical-takeoff combat aircraft Harrier AV-8S Matador in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The package concentrates on the Spanish Matador form and offers decals for three nationalities (Spanish, American and British). The set contains photo-etched parts, two types of ejection seat, adjustable exhaust nozzles and air intakes that can be built open or closed, and various configurations of external stores.
The Harrier was a pioneering British aircraft with vertical and short takeoff and landing (V/STOL), whose vectorable thrust let it operate from small ships and unprepared surfaces as well. The Spanish Navy operated the early AV-8S type under the national designation VA.1 and the nickname Matador; these machines served, among other places, from the deck of an aircraft carrier. The model therefore captures the early generation of the Harrier in the colors of several users.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and glue the photo-etched parts with super glue. Finish the cockpit with its ejection seat before closing up, and mask the glazing while spraying. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, transfer the decals over a gloss clear coat and bring the panel lines out with a wash. Assemble the nozzles and the air intakes in the position you want, and the external stores according to the configuration you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
