1:48 Hawk MK.200/208/209 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat combat version of the Hawk trainer and light combat aircraft from Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the single-seat combat version of the British Hawk aircraft. Unlike the better-known two-seat trainer form, this is a machine with one cockpit and a reworked nose, into which onboard equipment for combat duties was fitted. The name of the box covers the basic single-seat version and its export derivatives, so the customer can choose between several operators. The maker is Hobby Boss.
The Hawk came about in Britain in the nineteen seventies as a jet trainer and became one of the most widespread types in its class. The single-seat combat branch turned it into a light multirole machine meant for air defense, support of ground forces and anti-shipping work, with a suitable radar in the reworked nose. It was powered by an Adour turbofan engine and the armament was carried on underwing and ventral pylons. Malaysia and Indonesia bought export versions, which is where the designations Mk.208 and Mk.209 come from.
A small aircraft in 1:48 scale comes out as a compact model, which makes the cockpit stand out all the more, so it pays to spend time on the instrument panel and the seat. Leave the external stores for the end and glue them only after the finish is on, otherwise masking gets complicated. The gray low-visibility scheme is rewarding for fine shading of the panels, but a hard wash would look coarse on a small area.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
