A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I fighter aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hurricane came out of the Hawker design office and its construction followed a proven method: the fuselage was built around a tubular framework, which in its rear part was covered by a fabric skin over wooden formers. In the age of all-metal airframes the solution looked old-fashioned, but it had a practical advantage, because a ground crew could patch a skin holed by gunfire in a single night and the machine went back up in the morning. The retractable landing gear folded into the wing toward the fuselage. The Mk.I form was the first production one.
The set holds photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale intended for detailing a model of this machine. An etched element has a thickness close to real sheet metal and can carry fine relief that a molded plastic part in this scale would never bear. Which parts the set holds and where they belong is given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Have a firm surface, a sharp knife and tweezers ready. Cut the elements off the fret one at a time and only at the moment you are going to fit them, as on the fret they are safe. Bend cold and slowly, as metal will crack if bent back and forth repeatedly. Hold a small part on the tip of a stick dampened with water, as fingers would leave grease on it. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray it with a base coat.
This is an add-on set. The aircraft kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
