Art Scale 1:48 decals, the Hurricane Mk.IIc in Burma

A decal set in 1:48 scale from the brand Art Scale. It is not a kit: it is a sheet of decals with the markings of Hawker Hurricane fighters in the Mk.IIc version, specifically of machines deployed in Burma. The set is the ninth part of a wider series devoted to this type. The aircraft model is not included in the package, and the decals are applied to a finished, varnished model. The set therefore makes it possible to build a machine in markings that are missing from the basic kit.

The real subject

The Hurricane Mk.IIc differed from the older versions in its armament: instead of machine guns it carried four cannon of 20 mm caliber. In the Burmese theater it served at a time when in Europe it was already giving way to more modern types, and it came into its own mainly against ground targets and in supporting units in the jungle. The machines there carried particular markings and finishes adapted to the environment and to the conditions the fighting took place in.

Use

• apply the decals onto a smooth, glossy varnish, because on a matte surface a white edge appears
• cut them out as closely as possible, otherwise the thin film around the design stays visible
• dip them in lukewarm water for only a few seconds and let them release on the paper
• settle them with a softener and pierce them with a needle at rivets and engraved lines
• once dry, varnish the surface with a matte coat

The set is intended for modelers who want to mark their model differently from the basic kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
