The IA 58 Pucará is an Argentine twin-engine turboprop aircraft intended for reconnaissance and close support, designed for operation from short and unpaved surfaces. Characteristic of it are the slender nose, the high-set cockpit and the two engine nacelles on the wing. The inside of a nacelle with the turboprop engine, its accessories and the supporting structure is a typical assembly that an injection mold can only suggest. A resin casting allows sharp edges, fine piping and full three-dimensionality, so the model gains a further display theme of its own.
First wash the parts with lukewarm water and detergent to remove residues of release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surfaces with a file; never break them off; when sanding, work wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before gluing, always seat the parts dry, because it tends to be necessary to sand away part of the original plastic of the nacelle. Paint the engines in parts before the final assembly: a dark base, several metallic shades over it, then a thinned dark wash in the recesses and a dry brush on the edges. Turboprop engines have visible lines and units that are worth bringing out with a fine brush. If you are planning the nacelles exposed, reckon with propping the covers up so that they hold exactly; prepare any trolley or stand in advance.
The set is an accessory to a kit already bought and is supplied unpainted. The kit, cyanoacrylate glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
