The set contains the complete installation of the rear defensive UBT machine gun for models of the Ilyushin Il-2 attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is an aftermarket resin accessory complemented by photo-etch. It includes the gun itself, its mount and the ammunition box. It does not contain a model of the aircraft; it replaces and refines the detail of the gunner's defensive position.
The Berezin UBT was a Soviet 12.7 mm heavy machine gun used as defensive armament on a number of Soviet aircraft. On the two-seat version of the Il-2 attack aircraft it protected the machine against attacks from behind. A faithful installation of that position is among the most conspicuous details of the gunner's open cockpit.
Wash the mold release agent off the fine resin parts and cut off the casting blocks carefully. Join the photo-etch and the small parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Bring out the metal parts with a dark metallic shade and a fine dry brush; the ammunition belt comes to life once a wash is applied.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. The model itself, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
