It is neither a model nor a part of one but an accessory for painting a kit, from the maker Montex.
The Ilyushin Il-2, designated Shturmovik, was a Soviet single-engine attack aircraft of the Second World War. In design terms it stood out in that an armored bathtub formed the load-bearing part of the forward fuselage and protected the engine, the radiators and the crew. It was built in single-seat and two-seat versions and is among the most numerously produced aircraft of its day. The cockpit canopy has heavy framing with fairly small glazed fields, which for freehand painting is a difficult combination.
Degrease the glazing before applying the masks and let it dry thoroughly; grease from fingers is the most common cause of lifted edges. Lift the masks out of the sheet with a sharp point or with tweezers, seat them dry and only then press the edges down with a soft tool. On small fields, check against the light that the mask does not lie over a frame anywhere. Go over the edges with a thin coat of clear or of the base color, which seals any gap. Apply the paint in thin coats and take the masks off while it is not fully cured. Apply and spray the inner masks before you glue the canopy onto the fuselage, otherwise you will no longer reach them.
This is an accessory for painting, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the set matches the kit you are building.
