This is a resin set of speed brake panels in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a Draken kit. The cast panels make it possible to show the brakes in the deployed position, together with faithfully rendered wells beneath them, which raises the realism of a model.
The Saab 35 Draken was a Swedish supersonic fighter with a double delta wing. The airbrakes served to slow the aircraft on the approach and in maneuvering. In the deployed position they reveal details of the internal structure that injection-molded plastic usually cannot capture.
Wash the parts to remove mold release residue, separate the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). It is best to paint the brake wells before they are closed up. Sand the resin with respiratory protection.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
