JS-2 engine grilles is a photo-etched set of engine grilles from Hauler in 1:48 scale for the model of the Soviet heavy tank. Meant for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the maker Hauler in 1:48 scale, aimed at the engine grilles at the rear of the Soviet IS-2 (JS-2) heavy tank. It is not a model but an accessory of photo-etched metal that replaces coarsely molded plastic grilles with a thin, finely perforated metal structure. The difference is most visible precisely on the upper surface of the engine compartment. The target kit is from Tamiya.
The IS-2 (Iosif Stalin 2) was a Soviet heavy tank of the end of the Second World War, armed with a 122 mm gun. It was committed to breaking through fortifications and to supporting attacks and was among the most heavily armed tanks of its day. The large engine grilles are exactly what characterizes the flat rear end.
Cut the plastic grilles away carefully and replace them with the photo-etched parts. Separate those with a knife, shape them slightly if need be and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A coat of primer sprayed over them and a fine wash will bring out the depth of the perforation.
This is an accessory of photo-etched metal, not a complete model. The base Tamiya kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
