Reskit 1:48 KAB-500Kr guided bombs (2 pcs) is a resin set of two 500 kg guided bombs. It is add-on armament for an aircraft model, not the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Ukrainian maker Reskit contains two KAB-500Kr guided aerial bombs in 1:48 scale, cast in resin. It is an aftermarket weapons accessory, that is parts to add to or replace the weapons supplied in the kit. The aircraft model itself is not included. The resin casting allows the shape of the seeker head, the fins and the lugs to be rendered cleanly, all features that tend to be simplified in injection-molded plastic.
The KAB-500Kr is a Soviet and later Russian guided aerial bomb in the 500 kg class. It is guided by a television correlation seeker, which memorizes the image of the target before release and then takes the bomb to it; it is therefore a fire-and-forget weapon that needs no further input from the carrier once released. The bomb is carried on the underwing and centerline pylons of tactical attack and bomber aircraft and is used against point targets such as fortified structures, bridges or shelters.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surface down, protecting your breathing while you do it. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue. The front window of the seeker head is worth masking and finishing at the very end, so that it reads as glass and not as paint. The bombs are usually sprayed separately from the aircraft and fitted to the pylons last of all; small stencils and markings go onto a smooth gloss surface.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is an accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
