A resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Quickboost (the Aires brand). It is not an airplane kit but an accurate replacement for the landing gear covers of a plastic model of the Japanese Ki-61 Hien fighter in the Id version. The parts are finely cast with thin edges and faithful relief, so they replace the thicker and simpler plastic covers from the box and sharpen the look of the retractable landing gear.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a Japanese fighter of the Second World War, one of the few powered by an inverted V12 liquid-cooled engine, which gave it a slim, aerodynamic silhouette. The gear covers closed the wheel bays and are among the details that contribute markedly to the overall impression of a finished model with the landing gear down.
Wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and line them up; bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your breathing when sanding resin. Prime the covers, match them to the color of the model and set the inner faces apart; a fine wash in the recesses brings out the relief and the riveting.
This is a resin detail set, not a kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
