A set of resin main landing gear wheels for the light observation and liaison aircraft L-4 Grasshopper in 1:48 scale, made by CMK. The wheels are cast with the mark of a load (a slightly flattened tire), so on a finished model they look as if the machine really stood on them. They replace the kit plastic parts and bring a cleaner tread and finer hub detail.
The L-4 Grasshopper was the military version of the light high-wing Piper Cub, used during the Second World War for observation, artillery spotting and liaison duties. Thanks to the low weight and the simple landing gear, the wheels are a conspicuous feature of the silhouette of the aircraft.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the contact patch. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the tires matte and the hubs according to the chosen rendering; fine dust effects at the contact with the ground bring out the weighted deformation.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
