This item is not a kit of an aircraft but a photo-etched accessory: parts in thin metal sheet intended for detailing a model of the British Avro Lancaster B Mk. I heavy bomber in 1:48 scale. On its accessories Eduard uses the bare name of the subject, so the contents of the set do not follow from it alone: the contents of the package and the number of parts are stated on the box. Before buying, check which kit the set is cut for.
Photo-etched sheet has a real thickness of hundredths of a millimeter, so it faithfully stands in for elements that on the real aircraft are thin sheet metal or wire: instrument panels, seat belts, levers, meshes and stiffeners. On a large bomber in 1:48 scale the inside of the fuselage and of the cockpit is clearly visible through the extensive glazing, so refining the detail shows more markedly than on a fighter.
The Avro Lancaster was a British-built four-engine heavy bomber powered by liquid-cooled V12 engines. The B Mk. I version was the basic production variant with British engines. A long uninterrupted bomb bay, which let the aircraft carry bulky loads, and the pair of vertical tail surfaces at the ends of the horizontal surface were characteristic.
Cut the parts from the fret on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel, not with cutters. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blades, always along the etched groove. Degrease the metal before gluing and glue with cyanoacrylate or epoxy; cement for polystyrene does not hold on photo-etch. Sand away the plastic elements the photo-etch replaces first, otherwise the set will not line up. Finish the interior before you close the fuselage halves.
The set holds photo-etched parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
