This set brings two cast resin replicas of the German F5b air-dropped torpedo in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory with which you hang a faithful torpedo under a model of a bomber able to carry this armament, typically the Heinkel He 111 or the Junkers Ju 88. Decals with technical markings are usually included as well.
The F5b was the standard German air-dropped torpedo of the Second World War, of 450 mm caliber. It was carried by the torpedo units of the Luftwaffe in attacks on Allied convoys and ships. Characteristic are the wooden stabilizing surfaces on the tail, which separated once it hit the water.
First wash the parts to remove the mold release residue, carefully cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Lay down a primer before painting; the metal body and the wooden tail surfaces come out well with metal shades and light weathering.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
