Skis as winter equipment of the German army of the Second World War in 1:48 scale. A small accessory for snowy scenes and vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
At the moment snow made movement along the roads impossible, skis were an ordinary part of the winter equipment of the German army. They were carried by mountain and ski units, by patrols and by runners, and where they were not in use at the time they lay stacked by a position or lashed to a vehicle. It is exactly this small thing that gives a winter scene credibility: without it a snow-covered model looks more like a model under a white coat than like a scene from a real winter.
The set brings skis in 1:48 scale, that is in a considerably smaller size than is usual with dioramas. The parts are therefore slender and easily lost in handling; it pays to work over a light-colored mat and to pick them up with smooth-jawed tweezers.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part, sand the remainder with fine abrasive paper and take care that the running surface stays flat. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and choose the glue according to the material; cyanoacrylate will serve universally. In this scale there is no longer any point in drawing the grain of the wood: a light base, a thin brown glaze and a darker line along the edge, which visually thins the ski, are enough. Suggest the binding with a dark shade in a single touch of the brush.
For builders of winter scenes in 1:48 scale who want to complete a vehicle or figures with equipment matching the season. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
