A resin detail set from the Czech company Aires in 1:48 scale. It contains accurately rendered Martin-Baker GRUEA-7 ejection seats as used by the A-6E Intruder and EA-6A variants. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces the simplified seats from a kit with a more faithful rendering. Sets of this kind usually combine resin with fine photo-etched parts, for example for the harness straps.
Martin-Baker ejection seats were among the most widespread escape systems in Western military aircraft. The GRUEA-7 version served in carrier machines of the US Navy. The A-6 Intruder was a two-seat carrier attack aircraft capable of precise all-weather strikes; the EA-6A was derived from it as an electronic warfare machine.
Wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. The seats are bonded with super glue. The harness straps and the details come into their own once painted and lightly accented. Check how the seats sit before the cockpit is closed up.
This is a resin accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
