The Bristol Blenheim Mk.IF EXPERT 1:48 mask set is the widest level of the New Ware mask range for the Airfix kit. It holds more pre-cut templates than the basic level.
Responsibility details are not available.
The top level of the mask set for a model of the fighter version of the Blenheim in 1:48 scale. The EXPERT designation concerns the scope of the package, not the difficulty of the work: against the basic BASIC level there are more templates in the set and they cover a larger part of the model. The shapes are pre-cut from self-adhesive film and match the parts of the Airfix kit. It is an accessory for painting, not a kit or a spare part.
On an aircraft with glazing this extensive every inaccuracy adds up. One badly pressed bar is enough, and once the masks come off there is a single ragged line among dozens of straight ones on the model. Cut film keeps the width of the bars constant and at the same time protects the transparencies against overspray, fingerprints and the sanding of filler, which on twin-engine fuselages usually comes before painting.
The proven approach is to mask the glazing as early as possible and leave the masks on the model throughout the surface preparation. Before painting, seal the edges of the masks with a thin coat of clear varnish compatible with the paint you are using; the varnish closes microscopic gaps and the paint has no way under. Spray the shade itself in several light coats. Take the mask off while the paint is still flexible, folding it back over itself. Store the rest of the sheet flat, away from heat and direct light.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
