C-130 E/J/H and AC-130 Hercules EXPERT 1:48 masking set (New Ware)

The extended version of the masking set in 1:48 scale for a Hercules model in the E, J and H versions and in the AC-130 configuration. Given the size of the subject it is one of the bulkier masking sets in the range, which matches the number of glazed and separately sprayed areas such a machine has.

Why a mask pays off most on a large aircraft

The Hercules has an extensive glazed cockpit with a great many small panes, side windows in the fuselage and a number of areas where improvising with tape shows at once. The larger the model, the longer the straight frames, and it is precisely on long straight lines that a hand cut in tape wanders most. A cut mask gives the same width along the whole length and, on symmetrical windows on both sides, holds the same position.

Procedure with an extensive set

• Do not apply all the masks at once. Work in sections, so that the pieces do not gather dust and the adhesive does not dry on them before you spray.
• Leave the numbered sheets in their original order; with similar small panes the orientation of the shapes is easy to confuse.
• A large fuselage takes more paint, so keep to thin coats all the more strictly, or a step you can feel will build up at the edges.
• On aluminum and glossy surfaces lift the mask off especially carefully, as a metallic finish comes away more easily than a matte one.
• Store a part-used set flat in its packaging; bent film loses its grip.

Who the set is for

For modelers who have taken on a large transport aircraft and want the cockpit and the fuselage windows sprayed rather than brushed around. Given its extent it is a set more for an experienced hand and for a longer session.

The package contains the masking set only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
