An accessory set in 1:48 scale with the Martin-Baker Mk.16A ejection seat for models of the Eurofighter aircraft. A replacement for the seat from a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Eurofighter is a supersonic combat aircraft developed jointly by several European states and introduced into their air forces. Its crew sits on the Martin-Baker Mk.16A ejection seat, that is, on one of the newer types of seats from this British firm. The seat is the most conspicuous element of all in an open cockpit: anyone who leaves a model with the canopy removed is looking precisely at it, at its supports, straps and firing handle.
The set brings the M.B. Mk.16A ejection seat in 1:48 scale as a replacement for the part from a kit. It tends to be more elaborate than the seat supplied with a kit and in an open cockpit the difference shows at first glance. The exact composition of the set and the number of parts are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
First try the seat dry in the cockpit of the kit, because the floor and the side walls tend to be of a different height with every kit and sometimes the seating surface needs modifying. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder. The parts are not of polystyrene, so glue them with super glue and wash and degrease them before painting. It pays to paint the straps and the handle before you seat the seat in the cockpit; after that you will no longer reach the lower surfaces.
The set is for modelers who build the Eurofighter with an open cockpit and want a convincing seat in it. The package contains only this accessory; a kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
