A set of photo-etched parts for the model of the two-seat Messerschmitt Me 262B-1a/U1 in 1:48 scale. The thin metal takes the place of plastic parts that are too thick for their detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Me 262B-1a/U1 was the night fighter conversion derived from the two-seat trainer version of the German Me 262 jet. Behind the pilot sat a radar operator, and the nose of the machine carried an antenna array that gave the aircraft an unmistakable outline. Only a few were built and they went into action at the very end of the war, which makes the finished model all the more interesting to look at.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for this type. Photo-etching pays off everywhere the material on the model should be as thin as in reality: on instrument panels, controls, buckles and pressed sheet it gives definition plastic cannot offer at that thickness. The two-seat cockpit moreover offers twice as many surfaces where the fine detail shows. The extent of the set and the placement of the individual parts are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts on a hard surface with a sharp blade, never by twisting; the metal tires at the bend and breaks somewhere other than you intend. Make the bends on a straight edge or in a bending tool and do them in one go, not by rebending repeatedly. Bond them with super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick onto the plastic, not onto the photo-etched part. Wash and degrease the surfaces before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on metal. Finish the cockpit and try it dry before you glue the fuselage halves together.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
