An injection-molded plastic kit of the German fighter Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3 in 1:48 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya. The kit is known for the precise fit of its parts and its clean execution, thanks to which it is among the popular choices among models of the Bf 109 in this scale. A figure of a pilot and a choice of color schemes tend to be included.
The Bf 109 E, nicknamed Emil, was one of the main early versions of this fighter and the mainstay type of the Luftwaffe at the beginning of the Second World War. The E-3 version was powered by the inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and carried, among other things, wing cannons. The Emils took part in the campaign over France and in 1940 fought countless dogfights in the Battle of Britain against the British fighters Hurricane and Spitfire.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and make use of the precise fit — the seams then call for only a minimum of filling. Paint the cockpit and the pilot and seat them before closing the fuselage. We recommend spraying a primer and applying the shades with an airbrush; period Luftwaffe camouflage schemes with mottling on the sides of the fuselage are typical. Transfer the decals onto a smooth glossy coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
