A colored three-dimensional cockpit interior for the model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-1 in 1:48 scale, printed on decal paper. The parts are dipped briefly in lukewarm water and slid off the paper.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109E-1 was the first large-scale production version of the Emil family, powered by the twelve-cylinder Daimler-Benz DB 601 in inverted V. The cockpit was narrow and heavily framed, and the canopy hinged to the side. The interior of the Emil therefore shows on a model above all when the canopy is built open, and because the pilot's station is small, fine detail counts all the more in it.
The sheet brings three-dimensional colored parts of the cockpit equipment printed on decal paper. The parts have real thickness, so once applied the instrument panel, the side panels and the seat belts do not look like a flat print. The shades, the dials and the labels are printed in production, so the hand painting of small gauges falls away.
Cut the part out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline, leave it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper onto a smooth degreased surface. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on gloss, so paint the cockpit in a base shade that will suppress any light edges and coat it with a gloss varnish. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, and in a busy corner a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Sand down beforehand any raised plastic details that the parts are meant to seat over. Work with tweezers, as in this scale the parts are really small and fingers seat them inaccurately.
The set is meant for modelers who want legible instruments in the small cockpit of the Emil without laborious painting. The kit, paints and glue are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
