The set holds photo-etched crew seat belts for a plastic model of the twin-engine Messerschmitt Bf 110 heavy fighter in the D version in 1:48 scale. It is a product from the Zoom range of the Czech manufacturer Eduard: the parts are pre-painted and self-adhesive, so they do not have to be painted. The carrier is steel, not brass, and steel photo-etched sheet holds its shape once bent, so a belt can be folded over the seat and left to drape freely without springing back straight.
The Bf 110 was a twin-engine two-seat aircraft with a long glazed canopy in which the pilot sat with the second crew member behind him. The D version came about as a long-range variant with supplementary tanks, which increased the range at the cost of agility. For a model that means one practical peculiarity: the long greenhouse is transparent along its whole length, so both seats and the crew restraint system are far more readable in it than in a single-seat fighter.
Before gluing, dry-fit the parts and find the position in which the belt falls naturally over the edge of the seat. Separate them with a scalpel on a hard surface, make the fold in a bending tool or over a blade and give it a slight wave. Touch the metal edges left by cutting with a dot of paint. On bent parts, back the self-adhesive layer up with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Because the cockpit is well visible, it pays to unify the interior with a flat clear coat at the end and to bring the hollows out with a light wash.
This is an accessory for a model, not a stand-alone kit. The plastic model and paints are not included in the package.
