An Art Scale masking set for the Messerschmitt Bf 110E kit from Eduard in 1:48 scale. The double-sided designation means that the set deals with both sides of the glazing, that is with the view into the cockpit as well. That matters on the Bf 110, because the long glasshouse over a crew of two is seen right through on a finished model.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry, carry the pieces of the mask with tweezers and press them down above all at the edges of the frames. Apply the paint in several thin coats rather than one heavy one, otherwise it runs under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not after it has cured completely. The frames inside are usually sprayed in the interior color, outside then in the camouflage color.
The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a twin-engined heavy fighter originally meant to escort bomber formations. In the Battle of Britain it did not succeed against single-engined fighters, but it proved itself as a fighter-bomber and later as a night fighter. The E version was a fighter-bomber adapted to carry bombs. A strikingly long glazed canopy with a great many frames makes it a typical case where a masking set pays off.
This is a masking accessory for painting a model and is sold separately. Neither paints nor the target model are included in the package.
