Eduard 1:48 Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4, ProfiPACK edition, a plastic kit of the German radar-equipped night fighter with color-printed etched parts, masks, a resin part and decals for five machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4 night fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. This is the ProfiPACK edition: besides the plastic it contains color-printed photo-etched parts, self-adhesive painting masks, a resin part (the bulged cover of the forward weapons bay) and decals for five machines fitted with FuG 202 radar. Where ProfiPACK sits among the Eduard ranges: the Weekend edition offers the same plastic but without the etched parts and masks and with a leaner decal sheet; Royal Class and Limited edition are the most fully equipped boxings (often two kits in the box plus accessories). ProfiPACK is therefore a fully equipped edition, from which you can build a highly detailed model straight out of the box.
Beware of a frequent misunderstanding: the Bf 110 in its earlier versions was a day heavy fighter (Zerstörer), but the G-4 version is a specialized NIGHT FIGHTER fitted with airborne radar. That is exactly why it has the characteristic antler antenna array on the nose, which on the machines in this kit is the FuG 202 radar. The Bf 110G-4 formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe night fighter force in the defense against the night raids of RAF Bomber Command; the crew was a pilot, a radio and radar operator and a gunner. Some German night fighters, the Bf 110G-4 among them, were fitted with upward-firing cannons known as Schräge Musik, which were used to attack a bomber from below, outside the field of fire of its gunners (whether parts for this armament are in the box will be shown by the instructions).
The cockpit of a heavy fighter is glazed and you can see a lot inside, so it pays to work the interior out before closing the fuselage; glue the color-printed etched parts (instrument panels, belts) with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic parts with liquid cement for polystyrene. The radar antenna array is the most fragile part of the model, so fit it at the very end, after painting, otherwise you will break it off while handling the model. Night fighters typically carried light gray and gray-blue finishes, often with hand-sprayed blotches or mottled patterns: use an airbrush at low pressure with heavily thinned paint, or mask with modeling putty. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals and matte the surface down afterwards.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
