The Mi-2 helicopter in 1:48 scale. A light multirole machine with a pair of turboshaft engines above the cabin; the contents of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-2 is one of the most widely used light helicopters of Eastern Europe. The design came from the Soviet Mil bureau, but the machine was produced in series in Poland and spread from there to dozens of countries. Characteristic is the pair of turboshaft engines set above the glazed cabin: it freed the interior space for crew and cargo and gave the machine a reserve in case one of the engines failed. The main rotor has three blades, and the slender tail boom carries the tail rotor.
In helicopters 1:48 is a pleasant compromise: the model stays reasonably sized for a display case, and yet the rotor head, the glazing and the small equipment still stand out. The Mi-2 can moreover be built in a civil or a military finish, so the result depends mainly on the chosen colors. The extent of the parts and the schemes offered are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Start with the cabin: the large glazing will let you see inside, so paint the interior surfaces before you close the fuselage. Fit the windows only after the finish is complete and choose a glue that will not cloud the glazing; for masking the windows, tape applied before spraying works well. Glue the rotor blades on a flat surface so that a small deviation does not twist the whole head. The tail boom is slim, so do not pick the finished model up by it.
Paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
