The Mi-2 is a light utility helicopter whose design came about at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s in the Soviet Mil design bureau and whose series production ran in Poland. Compared with older machines of the same size it brought a fundamental change in the power plant: a pair of turboshaft engines mounted above the glazed cabin. That freed the interior space for the crew and the load and gave the machine a reserve in case one engine failed. The main rotor has three blades, the tail boom is slender and the whole machine looks delicate.
The helicopter spread into both civil and military service. It flew as an air ambulance and rescue machine, in agriculture with spraying equipment, in pilot training, in police service and as a liaison and observation asset for armies. That is exactly why you will meet it at modeling competitions in the most varied color schemes, from striking civil markings to sober military finishes.
The cabin glazing is large on this type and carries the whole look of the model; fit the canopy parts only after the finish is done, therefore, and use a glue that will not fog the clear plastic. The rotor system and its head are complex in shape, so assemble them on a flat surface to keep the blades in the same plane. The cabin interior will be visible through the glazing, so it pays to paint it before you close up the fuselage. The detailed sequence and the range of parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
