This item is not a helicopter model. It is an accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended to raise the level of detail on a plastic model of the Mi-8MT helicopter in 1:48 scale. The BIG range at Eduard denotes a package that brings together several individual accessories for one type in a single envelope, so a customer does not have to put the set together piece by piece. Check the actual composition of this set on the box.
The Mi-8MT is an upgraded version of the legendary Soviet transport helicopter Mi-8, known for export as the Mi-17. It received more powerful TV3-117 turboshaft engines, shorter engine nacelles and a tail rotor on the other side of the tail boom. The machine is used to carry troops and cargo, to evacuate the wounded and also in an armed configuration with pylons, and it serves in dozens of countries to this day. Its large cargo cabin and heavily divided glazing are exactly the places where work with accessories shows the most on a model.
Accessories of this kind are fitted alongside the build, not afterwards, as most of them need to be in place before you close the fuselage. Before you start, compare the parts dry against the plastic, because the original plastic detail often has to be sanded away. Glue fine parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) applied with a pin, not straight from the bottle. If the set contains unpolished metal, degrease it and go over it with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on it.
