This is a detail accessory of cast resin, not a kit of an aircraft. The content is the underfuselage gun pod for a model of the MiG-21MF in 1:48, in the early shape variant. The Quickboost range from the Czech manufacturer Aires is built on quick replacements of individual parts: the casting is as a rule more accurate in shape and has no mold seam down the middle, which with injected plastic always appears.
The MiG-21MF is one of the most widespread versions of the Soviet supersonic MiG-21 fighter. Unlike the older versions it had a built-in twin-barrel 23 mm cannon housed in a pod under the fuselage. That pod went through small changes of shape during production, so an early and a later pattern are distinguished; the difference is clearly apparent on a model and decides which variant of the machine you can build.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and remove any mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the mating surface by sanding wet with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Seat the pod exactly on the axis of the fuselage and check it by looking from the front and from the rear, because even a slight twist shows on a finished model. Leave the muzzles dark and around the gas vents apply a fine tint of dark pigment or a translucent sooty shade, which raises the credibility markedly.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
