This is a detail accessory of cast resin, not a kit of an aircraft. The content is a replacement engine exhaust nozzle for a model of the MiG-23BN in 1:48, made in the open position and in the late shape of the pattern. Aires is a Czech manufacturer of modeling accessories whose castings are marked by a fine surface and sharp edges to the nozzle petals, which is hard to achieve by injection molding.
The MiG-23BN is the ground-attack and fighter-bomber version of the Soviet MiG-23 with a variable-geometry wing, intended for attacking ground targets. The engine nozzle with afterburner is made up of moving petals that change the cross-section according to the engine setting, and on a parked machine it is usually in the open position. The late pattern of the nozzle differs from the earlier one in the shape and division of the petals, which is why the manufacturer offers both variants separately.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and remove any mold release agent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw or a sharp knife and level the surface by sanding wet with your airways protected. Resin is glued exclusively with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate; plastic cement has no effect on it. Always dry-fit it into the fuselage of the model and if need be adjust the mating surface. For painting, metal shades with differing gloss work well: a lighter tone on the outer petals, a darker and flatter one inside, and at the end a fine sooty wash running from the outlet forward.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
