1:48 MiG-23MLD chaff and flare dispenser (empty version) is a resin detail accessory from the Aires brand, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the simplified plastic part with an accurate casting with the chambers fully defined.

This item is not a model of an airplane but a resin detail set intended to replace a part on an already built or part-built model of the MiG-23MLD fighter in 1:48 scale. A chaff and flare dispenser is a device that fires bundles of dipoles to jam radars and infrared flares to lead away heat-seeking missiles. The variant offered here captures the dispenser empty, that is with chambers without cartridges. The manufacturer, the Czech firm Aires, also lists a loaded variant and a variant with covered chambers in the same range, so you can choose according to the situation you want to capture on the model.
A resin casting holds crisper edges and deeper recesses than injection-molded plastic, which is limited by the shape of the mold. The mouths of the individual chambers therefore read as real openings, not as shallow dimples. The empty version makes sense on a model shown after takeoff or after a combat sortie, or on a machine in ground maintenance, when the device is clearly visible at close range.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, because mold release residue clings to the surface and paint would not hold on it. Cut the casting block away with a razor saw or a knife with a fine blade; never snap it off. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate, that is super glue, as ordinary plastic cement has no effect on it. Lay down a thin primer coat before painting, then bring out the chambers with a dark wash and the edges with a dry brush. When sanding resin, work wet and protect your airways.
This is an accessory for a build and is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
