The item offered here is an accessory fret of photo-etch, not a model of the aircraft. The metal parts etched from thin sheet are glued onto a separately bought MiG-21SMT plastic kit in 1:48 scale and replace elements whose scale thickness is out of reach for injection-molded plastic. The maker is Eduard, a Czech company from Obrnice near Most. The word Weekend in the name refers to the particular boxing of the target kit the fret is cut for.
The MiG-21 was a single-engine supersonic fighter with a delta wing, built in many versions and in enormous numbers. The SMT version is among the later variants and is told from older machines above all by its markedly enlarged dorsal spine, which took an additional fuel tank. That change altered the silhouette of the aircraft so much that the SMT version can be told apart at first glance. For the modeler it means that accessories for the MiG-21 are not freely interchangeable between versions and that you need to reach for the set for the right variant.
Work over a mat with a raised edge, because small parts like to jump away. Cut them off with a scalpel and bend them over a straight edge. Metal is glued to plastic with cyanoacrylate glue; the gel version gives you time to align it. Under photo-etch it is a good idea to level the plastic surface and remove the original molded detail. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer, otherwise it will rub off during assembly already.
