The real subject

The Mil Mi-24D is a Soviet attack helicopter with a two-seat cockpit arranged in tandem: the weapon systems operator sits in front and the pilot behind him and higher. Each station has its own glazing, so the cabin is clearly visible from the side as well as from above. That is exactly why it pays to give attention to the seats on a model, where the straps are the most striking detail.

The finished straps carry both the color and the detail of the buckles in a form you practically cannot manage with a brush in this scale, and thanks to them the cockpit stops looking empty. How to work with the seatbelts

• Before applying, check in the instructions whether the elements are self-adhesive or applied the wet way. A self-adhesive rendition is damaged beyond repair by soaking.
• Finish and paint the seat first. The belts come next in line only right at the end.
• Degrease the surface and let it dry completely, so that the elements do not stand away anywhere.
• Lay the straps down in sections with tweezers and press them with a cotton swab. Make the bend over the edge of the pan gradually, not in one movement.
• Let the loose ends hang over the edge of the seat, so that the belts do not read as a stuck-on strip.
