Eduard 1:48 Mil Mi-24D stencils is a decal sheet with technical and maintenance markings for a model of the Mi-24D attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. An accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of the helicopter but a separate decal sheet from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It contains so-called stencils — small technical and maintenance markings, filler point markings, warning labels and service instructions that on the real machine are scattered over the whole surface. The sheet is intended for a model of the Mi-24D in 1:48 scale and is added to the decals in the base kit; with this type those tend to be limited in content or less legible.
The Mil Mi-24D is a Soviet attack helicopter on which separate cockpits for the pilot and the operator with their characteristic bulged canopies one above the other first appeared. The machine combined the role of an attack helicopter with the ability to carry a squad for landing and became an export type used in a number of countries including Czechoslovakia. On machines of this class the technical labels form a conspicuous part of the look — they appear on the cockpits, the engine nacelles, at the weapons stations and on the landing gear.
Stencils are applied like ordinary wet decals. The surface has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise a matte clouding is left under the decal; so apply a gloss varnish and only then start decaling. Cut the sheet close around the motif, soak it for a few seconds and let the decal slide off the paper. Small labels transfer well with the tip of a brush moistened with water. Once dry, a decal softener helps the labels settle into the engraved lines and over rivets. Finally varnish everything with a matte or semi-matte varnish, which hides the edges of the decals.
This is a separate decal sheet, not a model. The kit, varnishes and a decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
