Masks for the bands on Mk.82 bombs for the Phantom II (1:48) — a set of die-cut self-adhesive painting masks from New Ware for spraying the warning color bands on five-hundred-pound bombs.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks from the New Ware brand intended for spraying the warning color bands on five-hundred-pound Mk.82 bombs. It is not a model or the bombs themselves — you get precisely shaped masks of thin masking tape, which make it easier to spray crisp and even bands without lengthy measuring and sticking down ordinary adhesive tape. The set holds variants with one as well as two bands and is enough to mark a whole series of bombs.
The Mk.82 is an American 500-pound aerial bomb from the Mark 80 family of unguided munitions. It is among the most widespread underwing armament of tactical aircraft of the Cold War and later, including Phantom II fighters. The color bands on the body of the bomb serve as the service marking of the type of filling.
First spray the base shade of the body, then once it is dry lay the masks in the place of the band and spray over it with the color of the band; then remove the mask. You can also proceed in the opposite order. The thin tape conforms well to the rounded surface of the bomb and leaves a clean edge.
This is a masking set. The model, the bombs and the paints are not included in the package.
