A resin detail set from the manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale, the BRASSIN line. It is not a kit but a set of Mk.82 aircraft bombs fitted with a retarding tail unit in the early shape. The bombs serve to arm a model of an aircraft realistically on its bomb racks. The castings have a fine surface and tend to be filled out with photo-etched parts and decal markings.
The Mk.82 is an American general-purpose aircraft bomb of a nominal weight of about 500 pounds, belonging to the Mk.80 family of low-drag bombs. The retarding tail unit (of the Snakeye type) opens out after release and slows the bomb down, which allows a safe drop from low altitudes. The early version differs from the later one in the rendering of the retarding surfaces. A number of combat aircraft carried munitions of this type from the 1960s.
Wash the parts clean of the mold release agent, separate the casting blocks and clean the surfaces up with protection of the breathing. Glue the resin with super glue. You will finish the markings and the color bands with the enclosed decals; the body of the bomb is usually sprayed in a uniform shade with a dark wash to bring the details out.
This is an accessory with stores, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
