Paint Forge Circle Stencils M — a universal masking stencil

Circle Stencils is a universal stencil with circular cutouts. You lay the sheet on an already painted surface and apply paint through the cutouts. It is not a mask cut for a particular kit but a reusable aid for a regular circular shape — circular markings and insignia, hatches, tank lids, the lenses of lights, dials or dots on the panels of science-fiction hardware.

The letter M in the name marks the smaller of the pair of sheets that Paint Forge offers for the same pattern; the larger sheet carries the letter L in its name. The smaller format holds better on small parts and on figures, where a large sheet cannot be pressed to the surface.

How the stencil is used

• Let the base coat dry out completely — in fresh paint the sheet will leave an imprint.
• Press the stencil down around the whole perimeter of the cutout; every gap shows up as overspray on the edge of the circle.
• Lead the airbrush perpendicular to the sheet and apply several very thin coats, not one wet one.
• With a brush, stipple the paint into the cutout almost dry, and never stroke it across the edge.
• Lift the sheet off while the paint is damp and clean it at once.

Who it is for

• Painters of figures and busts, where a circle on a shield, an emblem or a base is hard to hit freehand.
• Modelers of smaller scales, for whom a large sheet gets in the way on a part.
• Builders of dioramas who repeat circular elements on panels, drums and hatches.

Paints and masking tape are not included in the package. The exact size of the sheet, the material and the number of motifs are stated by the manufacturer on the box.
