Painting masks N1K2-J Shiden Kai (George) 1:48 (Eduard)

A set of self-adhesive painting masks by Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but an accessory for building the Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden Kai aircraft. The masks are applied to the canopy glazing and to the wheels, and after spraying they peel off easily and leave clean, sharp transitions with no paint bleeding under.

The real subject

The Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden Kai, given the Allied code name George, was a Japanese land-based fighter of the end of the Second World War. It came about by reworking the previous version into a conventional low-wing layout and was one of the most capable Japanese fighters of the closing period of the conflict. Thanks to its powerful engine and good agility it could face even modern Allied machines.

Use

• Transfer the masks carefully onto clean and degreased glazing and press them down so that they adhere well.
• We recommend spraying the color of the inner framing first, then the final covering shade.
• Apply the paint in thin coats with an airbrush, so that it does not creep under the edge of the mask.
• Once dry, peel the masks off carefully, ideally with the tip of a knife or with tweezers.
