1:48 Nakajima Ki-43-II/III Hayabusa landing gear bay masks from Dead Design. They are fitted onto a finished bay interior and protect it until the underside of the airframe is sprayed.

Die-cut masks from Dead Design for the landing gear bays of a model of the Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa army fighter in 1:48 scale, specifically for the Ki-43-II and Ki-43-III versions. The set has nothing to do with the glazing.
Masking the bays has to be planned before the model is assembled. A bay is painted at the moment the wing is still unfinished and can be reached comfortably; once the wing is closed and glued to the fuselage, all that is left is an airbrush at an awkward angle. This set deals with exactly the next step: the interior is finished, the model is glued and ready for varnishing, and the bay needs closing off.
Before fitting the mask, check that the seams of the wing are filled and sanded down; dust from sanding under a mask will reliably prevent it adhering. Press the mask down all the way around, spray over it lightly, let it set and only then lay on the full coat. Once it has dried, take it off before the matte varnish goes onto the model; the edge then stays crisp and any touching up can be covered without trouble by a further pass.
The Ki-43 Hayabusa was a single-engine fighter of the Japanese Army Air Force, built by Nakajima and known above all for its very low wing loading. The Ki-43-II and Ki-43-III versions represent its later production forms with a more powerful engine.
