This plastic kit in 1:48 scale represents the North American F-86F Sabre jet fighter, one of the icons of the Cold War and Korean skies.
The F-86 Sabre was the first American swept-wing jet fighter. Its designers used the findings on the aerodynamics of a swept wing and chose a sweep angle of 35°, complemented by automatic slats on the wing leading edge. The Sabre made its name in the duels over Korea against the Soviet MiG-15 fighters; the F-86F version of 1953 brought a more powerful engine and was an even match for its opponent. The standard armament consisted of six 12.7 mm machine guns.
Sand the panel lines and treat the surface with a primer, as a natural metal surface is demanding and calls for a smooth base, ideally a metallic finish applied with an airbrush. Finish the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage up and mask the glazing. The markings and any color bands will stand out on a polished metal surface.
