This item is an accessory set of cans in 1:35 scale, namely of the twenty-liter can of the German standard pattern in the form designated by the year 1938. It is neither a vehicle model nor a kit but a small accessory that is added to fenders, carriers, beds and to a diorama scene.

The real subject

The twenty-liter standard can came to the fore in the 1930s and became the pattern to which cans were then made all over the world. Its characteristic features are three handles side by side, cross-shaped swages on both sides that give the container its stiffness, and a closure with a lever that needs no screwing. The forms differed during production in the detail of the closure, in the shape of the swages and in the markings, which is exactly why the can comes out in modeling sets in several variants.

Usage tips

• The cans suit the brackets on the fenders, the rear of the bed, or being stacked loose in a scene. Try dry whether the bracket holds the can in the right position.
• Clip the small parts off over a tray so that they do not fly away, and degrease them and spray them with a base coat before painting.
• The swages come out after a dark wash and a light dry brush along the edges. A can tends to be scuffed mainly on the edges and by the handles.
• Check the particular markings and lettering against the subject you are building. The set is a part, not documentation.
