A resin detail set from the Czech maker CMK, intended for a model of the OV-10 Bronco observation and light attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that concentrates on the armament in the fuselage area, that is on the part that plastic parts usually handle only in a simplified way. A resin casting allows finer shapes and crisper edges than an injection mold can give, so the detail shows above all where the walls are thin and the elements small.
The OV-10 Bronco is an American twin-boom aircraft with turboprop engines and a high-set tail, designed for observation, forward air control and light strikes. A characteristic feature of the airframe are the short stub wings on the sides of the fuselage, which carried both the pylons and the aircraft's own armament. This part of the machine is clearly visible on a model, and how well it is worked out is one of the details that decide whether a finished model looks convincing.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the mold release agent — without that neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks away with a fine saw or a sharp knife and sand the surfaces down, protecting your airways while you do it. Try dry how the set sits in the plastic; now and then the plastic part has to be sanded back a little. It is bonded with super glue, and for fine adjustment of the position the gel version helps, as it gives you more time. Start the painting with a primer, finish the metal parts in a dark steel shade and add a fine wash that brings out the edges.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
