P-38 Lightning - air intakes 1:48 (Aires/Quickboost)

A resin detail set, not an airplane kit. The set holds precisely cast air intakes for the American twin-boom Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter in 1:48 scale.

What the set offers

The castings replace the air intakes on the engine nacelles of the twin-engine Lightning. Resin allows more finely rendered lips and open intake mouths, which look coarser in solid plastic. The set is shaped for a particular kit, which it matches dimensionally.

Tips for working with resin

  • First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue
  • Cut the casting blocks off with a saw; do not snap them off
  • Bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); plastic cement does not hold on resin
  • Protect your airways while sanding and do not breathe in the resin dust

This is a resin detail set, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

No. This is a resin detail set of air intakes. The base P-38 model has to be bought separately.

It replaces the plastic air intakes on the engine nacelles of the Lightning with more faithful resin castings.

Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) only. Ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin.
