This is not a standalone model but a resin detail accessory for models of the P-51B and Mustang Mk.III fighters in 1:48 scale. The set brings replacement exhausts cast in resin with finely rendered, hollow (open) openings, which is a noticeable step up in realism compared with parts from an ordinary injection mold.
The P-51B (Mustang Mk.III in British service) was an early model of the famous American fighter with a Packard Merlin engine. It was notable for its long canopy glazing and the rows of exhausts on the sides of the engine cowling, which are among the most visually exposed details of a model.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, carefully cut off the casting blocks and clean them up with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The exhausts paint up well by layering shades of rust and burnt steel, and a final toning with pigments brings out the wear.
This is an accessory, not an airplane model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
