This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Meng captures one of the most famous fighters of the Second World War, the North American P-51D Mustang. The kit stands out for its accurate shape, rich surface detail and a well-thought-out design in which the basic assembly can be managed even without glue. The package offers two marking options.
The P-51D was a single-engine fighter powered by a Merlin engine which, thanks to its long range, escorted bomber formations deep over enemy territory. The characteristic teardrop canopy improved the pilot's view; the Mustang became a symbol of the Allied fighter force of the closing stage of the war and served long afterwards.
Even though the parts can be joined without glue, liquid modeling cement is best for a permanent joint. Finish the cockpit and the instrument panel before you close the fuselage. The glossy natural metal finish of the Mustang shows best with a metallic paint over a smooth base; apply the decals over a gloss coat and seal them with a matte or satin varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
