Replacement exhausts for a model of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale, to be swapped for the parts from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the Mustang the exhaust stubs stand out on both sides of the fuselage right behind the engine cowling, that is, at the place where the eye stops first on a finished model. The parts from a kit tend to have thick edges and blind outlets here, because the shape of the mold does not allow anything else. A replacement set puts that right and the difference is visible even without magnification, which is exactly why swapping the exhausts is among the most rewarding small changes to a model.
The P-51D is an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War. It is recognized by its bubble canopy and the cut-down rear fuselage behind it, which opened up the pilot's view aft. It was powered by a liquid-cooled V12 engine, and it was its exhaust gases that left through the stubs along the sides of the forward fuselage.
Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down carefully so as not to touch the shape of the stubs. Try the fit dry and level the opening in the fuselage as needed. The parts are not polystyrene, and cement for polystyrene does not hold on them; use super glue and wash and degrease the surface beforehand. When painting, a dark base works well, with rusty and brown tones over it and finally fine dark streaks running aft from the exhausts along the fuselage; lay them on thinly, as a heavy streak looks like a smear. Fit the set at the end of the build.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
