A decal sheet from the Colibri Decals brand in 1:72 scale with the markings of German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tanks in the Ausf. E version from the period of Operation Barbarossa. The package contains the decals alone; the model, paints and glue are not part of it. The particular make-up of the sheet is given on the packaging.
The Ausf. E version followed on from the earlier D batch and was still armed with the short 75 mm gun intended above all for fire support. From the preceding version it differed in strengthened armor of the hull and turret, a reworked commander's cupola and other production changes; on vehicles in the field, additional armor plates fastened to the front and side surfaces also often appeared. For a modeler it is precisely the combination of the additional plates and the placing of the markings that determines whether the result looks convincing.
Give the areas under the decals a gloss varnish and let them dry. Cut a decal out close to the image, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and slide it into place with a brush. If a marking lies across the additional armor plates or across an edge, a softener and pressing with a damp cotton bud will help. Finally cover the whole model with a matte varnish, which hides the edges of the carrier film and prepares the surface for washes and pigments.
This is a supplementary decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
